Generator

Okay here is the story:
It started about 6 months ago. We got our power bill in the mail. Mike opened it and said "Um Honey, will you look at this" I looked and it said that we owes $562.67 to Rocky Mountain Power. $489.07 of which was previously owed.
Okay so we have missed a payment, or have been late on a payment in our bill paying career, but this was bad. One time we got a power bill for $2,000.00 because our meter reader had big fingers and pressed a couple of extra buttons. One time a collections agency contacted us because a Michael Ray owed 200.00...and we had to prove it wasn't us and Mike had never lived in Boise.
All these thoughts ran through my head...there had to be a mistake. We even got the previous months bill out to make sure that we had paid it. We were planning on calling the power company to get it figured out and right then Mike noticed that it wasn't our bill at all..it was our neighbors, yes, we had opened their mail.
So we nicely wrote a note explaining the mistake and put it in their box. Even though we have lived here 3 years, we still get their mail. I think we should throw it out, but Mike is much nicer than I am and puts it all in their box.
So time moves on..yes we know there have been problems to the West. So the night I got home from Springville I woke up in the middle of the night to this weird sound, and went back to sleep. The next night it was going before we went to bed and Mike said "So have you heard the generator?" (Did I mention that he is really smart too?) I said "Oh, why is there a generator?" And Mister Know It All said "I think they are using it because they got their power turned off" Me being the compassionate person that I am, was laughing. "How could they use a generator if they don't have any power?" (Sometimes mechanic elude me) "Lots of Gas" The next day I looked over as I drove by and sure enough there are three HUGE gas containers right by this generator that is on a trailer. I think it would be cheaper to pay a power bill rather than buy all that gas...but what do I know about those kind of things?
Every night we get to listen to the "Big G".
The other morning it was about 3 am and I awoke to sputtering, and it wasn't human. I think they had run out of gas. Then a while later I heard a car trying to be started, it was either cold or out of gas too. Finally they got the *%$#@ started and off they went..to get more gas I am sure.

But on a positive note: The "Big G" noise drowns out any fighting they might be doing.

  1. Oh I HATE the sound of the generator on Trev's job site. it's so loud you can't hear yourself think! Wait, don't they have to use that to heat their house too? how can that be cheaper?
